Inspired by Bill Lark’s journeys to Japan, and meticulously crafted with passion and precision, LARK Tasmanian Single Malt whisky is finished in rare and precious Mizunara oak casks, embodying a harmonious blend of two esteemed whisky cultures. Renowned for their scarcity and distinctive flavour profile, the Mizunara Rare Cask Series invites you to savour the timeless elegance and unparalleled richness of craftsmanship, seamlessly blending the heart of Japan with the soul of Tasmania. Mizunara white oak is highly prized because the cost of log is high since it often takes 200 years or more for a Mizunara tree to mature enough before it can be harvested for cask barrels. The Japanese government also restricts the felling of Mizunara trees under the age of 80, making this type of Japenses oak even more difficult to come by for barrel production. This necessary passage of time imbues the wood with unique qualities that in turn impart extraordinary characteristics to the whisky.
