Today’s spirits consumer increasingly favours two things – premium quality and true sustainability. In the growing cognac and brandy category, one brand embodies both these qualities to a truly exceptional level. To benefit from the growing cognac segment, Spirits Platform offers two outstanding cognacs from the House of Rémy Martin.
It all begins with terroir
Cognac is a type of brandy made exclusively with grapes that are known for their superior aromatic properties, grown in the Cognac region of France. This is the all-important terroir that Rémy Martin has striven to protect, working passionately to preserve precious soils and regional biodiversity.
Expertly drawing on its own its history, know-how and long-term relationships, the House of Rémy Martin has led the charge to sustainable agriculture throughout the famous French wine-growing districts of Grande and Petite Champagne, where the finest grapes in the Cognac region are grown.
Of course, none of this happened by accident. 15 years ago, in 2007, the House of Rémy Martin announced a far-reaching sustainability action plan, covering not only Rémy Martin’s own vineyards, but their wider environmental, social, and economic impact.
A leader in sustainable agriculture
Today, the Rémy Martin Domains are a showcase for high-quality environmental research, including how to care for vines with as little input as possible, and improve soils without the use of fertiliser. They enable large-scale testing of alternative options and strive to help winegrowers enhance their environmental practices.
As a result of Rémy Martin’s leadership, all their growing partners are now committed to sustainable agriculture.
Over 115,000 oaks and other key species have been propagated along the banks of the Charente River, helping to support the region’s biodiversity and filter its drinking water.
By 2024, Rémy Martin aim to be using 100% recyclable packaging exclusively.
By 2030 they aim to cut their total carbon emissions by 50%. All these commitments are part and parcel of what allows the House of Rémy Martin’s to create such an exceptional product. With a lineage dating from 1724, there’s a lot of history in every drop.
Hugely versatile, cognac is the perfect drink for a wide range of occasions and can be enjoyed in different ways. As Millennial consumers increasingly embrace cognac as a premium spirit, top-flight bartenders and mixologists worldwide continue to innovate with it.
