Mercy Ships are a flotilla of floating hospitals that offer desperately needed surgery to third-world countries. As floating hospitals that bring safe, sterile operating rooms and hospital beds to people in need. The volunteer surgeons and medical staff onboard tackle everything from birth defects to giant facial tumours to injuries sustained in childbirth. Founded in 1978 by Don and Deyon Stephens, Mercy Ships have visited over 70 countries and treated over 2.5 million patients.
Managing any charity organisation costs a lot of money – but maintaining a hospital ship is on an entirely different level! After careful review and consultation with Mercy Ships about their pressing needs, Spirits Platform decided to support this worthwhile initiative with a donation of $100,000.
Mercy Ships train local doctors, provide vital equipment, and open medical facilities so that improved healthcare continues in their wake. They also afford a wide range of humanitarian aid, including community development projects, community health education, mental health programs, agriculture projects, and palliative care for terminally ill patients.
Since the founding of Spirits Platform in 2015, Spirits Platform has supported a range of charitable organisations, including Unicef, the Australian Red Cross, Foundation Rwanda, R U Ok, The Daniel Morcombe Foundation, and many more.
